The IIE’s Vega School Durban campus is seeking a part time Lecturer for the 2024 academic year.
Job Purpose:
Lecturer and academic delivery to ensure students are guided and supported in their learning to achieve module outcomes.
Qualification Requirements:
- Master of Arts or Master of Technology in the following Design fields:
Visual Communication Design
Information Design
Industrial Design
Product Design
Multimedia/Digital Design
- Master of Arts in Digital Arts
- Master of Arts in Fashion Design/Interior Design/Architecture/Game design / Interaction Design
- Masters in Higher Education with Design as undergraduate or honours level and suitable experience as designer in industry.
- Masters in Brand Leadership with an Honours and Undergraduate qualifications in Design plus suitable experience as a designer in industry.
- Doctorates with Previous Design Qualifications and suitable experience as designer in industry
- At least 3 to 5years years industry experience in any of of the following:
Ideal:
- Two years teaching design theory, professional practices or discourse in a design field at Masters, Honours level or third year level
Key Performance Areas:
- Preparation and lecturing as per the Module Guide
- Teaching curriculum outcomes as per contract hours and stipulated per pre agreed timetable
- Briefing students for assignments and providing feedback in a timeous manner
- Presenting class marks and feedback to the Module Discipline Leader and discuss appropriate interventions for improved student success
- Actively engaging with current trends in teaching and learning strategies within The IIE’ Vega School environment.
- The successful candidate will receive training and support to ensure the successful academic delivery of the module.
Working Conditions:
- Please note that this is an Independent Contractor position
- Positions are part-time, with lectures taking place between 08:00 and 17:30
